BIO

Heather Francis is a writer-producer from Houston. She got her start on low-budget indie projects in Los Angeles and is proud to have done many jobs on and off set, from feeding crews to managing egos. Prior to working in film, she had a performance career in modern dance, and her background as an artist and teacher has been informing her hands-on approach to filmmaking ever since.

Her work has screened at Atlanta Film Festival, New Zealand International, NoBudge and other programs, and has been awarded funding by Indian Paintbrush and the Bridges/Larson Foundation. She recently completed her MFA in Film at Columbia University, where she learned under the mentorship of Mynette Louie. She still lives in NY and spends most of her time chasing stories with flawed characters in obscure places.
